Setting the right reward strategy in Malaysia.

Organisations in Malaysia are dealing with a range of challenges encompassing digital transformation, new technologies, demographic changes, the talent crunch, evolution of the employer-employee relationship, flexible working, and more.

With little movement in salaries and reward strategies to keep up with the change, it is no surprise that organisations are being forced to reimagine total reward and benefits.

According to The Talent Shift Study by Korn Ferry, Malaysia’s C-suite are cautious about skilled talent supply with 96% stating they would need a higher proportion of skilled workers in the future.

While an encouraging 88% have a formal forecast for their future skilled talent needs, the study revealed that many leaders see talent challenges as cyclical instead of a permanent structural change, with only 16% of those have a formal forecast planning through to 2030.

Couple this with a talent shortage of skilled professionals predicted to hit the world as early as 2020, organisations in Malaysia could be faced with unexpected wage premiums as they try to develop and retain their best people.
